Addit3d, 1st specialist trade show for 3d & additive manufacturing

BILBAO EXHIBITION CENTRE and ADDIMAT present

Bilbao Exhibition Centre and Addimat will be taking their commitment to advanced manufacturing a step further next May with ADDIT3D, Spain’s first 3-D and additive manufacturing fair, aimed exclusively at trade specialists.

“A specific event devoted to these technologies which are expected to revolutionise the paradigms of industrial production is being set up in response to concerns expressed by firms wishing to make further developments in Manufacturing 4.0 and to strengthen their competitive edge” assured BEC General Manager Xabier Basañez at the presentation of the event. He was categorical in his position: “This is a pioneering initiative with which we hope and expect to lead the field in events devoted to this sector”.

With him at the press conference was Xabier Ortueta, General Manager of Addimat, who took the opportunity to announce that “additive manufacturing is coming to stay: it will join the rest of the technologies used in industrial manufacture, and ADDIT3D is set to be the best showcase for publicising and promoting it”. Also taking part was Mikel Arbeloa, Head of Communication for the Sicnova Group and its delegate in the Basque Country and Navarre. During the presentation Sicnova and Tumaker staged live demonstrations of 3-D printing machinery as a preview of what visitors to ADDIT3D can expect to see. The event is to focus on products but will also be a forum for analysis and knowledge transfer.

Thus, ADDIT3D will act as a reference point for updating a range of key concepts for this sector, whose rapid progress is giving rise to great interest and to many questions. With this in mind, the organisers are designing a broad programme of talks and activities combining the informational and technical sides of the sector with the presentation of products and innovative applications so that visitors can see at first hand the advantages offered by these technologies. Those advantages include shorter lead times for new products, reductions in weight and costs, greater freedom in design, cross-sectoral implications and the ability to conduct complex tasks more easily.

ADDIT3D will also include an exhibition area featuring producers of systems and machinery (powder bed fusion, extrusion of materials, hybrid manufacturing cells, etc.), raw materials (in powder form, filaments, photo-polymers, etc.), R&D, industrial applications (aerospace and automotive technologies, light construction, mechanical engineering, mould and prototype manufacturing, medical technology, domestic products, etc.), consumables (gas supplies, dielectric fluids, lubricants), services, software (simulation, machine control, quality control, CAD/CAM, etc.), scanners and training, plus specialist associations and publications.

This new event will be held concurrently with the BIEMH 2016, International Machine-Tool Exhibition on 30 May-4 June, and together they will comprise a major forum focused on the latest manufacturing technologies, with synergies and new opportunities at all levels, thus ensuring the participation of large numbers of trade specialists. In 2014 BIEMH alone received 35,500 visitors from 57 countries, mainly from the automotive, aeronautics, capital goods, steelmaking, renewable energy and railway industries. 3-D and additive manufacturing has already enjoyed its own, separate area in recent editions of the BIEMH and SUBCONTRATACIÓN fairs, with positive results in terms of visitor numbers and interest expressed.

About ADDIMAT

ADDIMAT, the Spanish Association of 3-D and Additive Manufacturing Technologies, is powered by AFM (Spanish Association of Machine-Tool Manufacturers).  It seeks to bring together all parties with an interest in developing and promoting 3-D and additive manufacturing. Its mission is to represent additive manufacturing and foster its development by promoting co-operation between companies and providing professional services to its members. ADDIMAT provides a forum for the construction of a consistent, distinctive image for the 3-D and additive manufacturing industry, and gives a voice to its companies. To date it has 98 member companies.
